Chista, the online portal that identifies the extraordinary in the everyday, presents lampshades in stone and paper by artist Amanda Guest.
Artist Amanda Guest creates minimal line drawings on handmade paper. Upon request from A. Langotsky, she has made a line of paper lampshades that are simultaneously minimal and sensual. She makes the paper from 100% Linen and cotton rag often embedding threads or nails in the process. The lamps have the unique combination of subtlety and presence that has been recognized in the artist's work and the combination of paper and stone mirror the artist's pursuit of the balance of feeling and structure. Once the lamp is illuminated, the silhouette of the threads and the layers of paper create a new "drawing" in three dimensions.
