Amphibio is a 3D printed amphibious garment inspired from the gill that enables humans to breathe underwater.
Jun Kamei, a biomimicry designer and material scientist designs Amphibio – a gill-like accessory. He considers this an essential in a future, where humankind along the coastal zones will live practically under water due to the rising sea level – a dismal fact that is bound to affect more than 30% of the global population as megacities get submerged.
Made from a special porous hydrophobic material that supports underwater breathing by replenishing oxygen from the surrounding water and dissipating carbon dioxide which accumulates in the system, Amphibio is designed to provide daily comfort to people who spend as much time in the water as on the land.
Meanwhile, Amphibio (patent pending) can be quite a delight for deep-sea divers and trend-conscious swimmers.
